Painting Competition
Categories
This year at Gencon there will be three categories for fans to submit their painted minis in.
Battletech Fiction\Canon: Entries must be a canon scheme from the Camp Specs website. When submitting an entry, please cite the unit name.
Solaris Arena: Entries should have a unique, non-Canonical Paint Scheme. All entries must be appropriate for all ages and audiences, and cannot incorporate any copyrighted visuals not owned by CGL or CDT.
Casual\At Show: All entires must be painted at the convention during a single session of the Battletech Miniature Painting Classes held by the Cataylst Demo Team, using only materials provided during the class. The entries need to be from the pre-designated scheme from that session, and will be submitted to the Painting class instructor at the end of your class. All Casual\At Show Entries will be judged together as a single category, and not against Premier Competition entries.
Submission times
The Demo team will start accepting entries on Thursday (1 August 2024) at 10 am and will stop taking entries on Saturday (3 August 2024) an 12 pm.
Rules for Entry
All entries must be a singular (1) official BattleTech miniatures that are in current production from either Catalyst Game Labs or Iron Winds Metals. No 3D prints or modifications will be accepted. Each each submitter can enter only one submission per category (Premier/Canon, Premier/Solaris Arena, Casual/At Show) and each submission counts for a single judging category.
Miniatures must be painted by the person submitting them for entry, and this person must hold a valid badge to the convention. By entering a mini you agree that the mini may be photographed and the photographs used by CGL/CDT digitally and in print.
Submissions must be entered by noon (12:00pm) on Saturday. All entrants must fill out a submission form when dropping off the miniatures they are entering. An ID slip will be issued at time of entry which will be required to receive back your miniature on Sunday. A numbered sticker label will be placed on the bottom of the miniature for identification purposes.
Minis can only be entered in 1 Official CGL/CDT Painting Competition. (ex: If you enter a specific miniature at AdeptiCon, you cannot enter the same mini at GenCon.)
While all care will be taken with the entries, CGL/CDT is not responsible for any damage or loss.
Catalyst Game Labs reserves the right to deny entry to or remove from entry any submission at any time. Violation of any of the rules (either intentionally or unintentionally) will result in the potential for immediate disqualification from the event.
Awards will be announced Saturday night at 8:00pm. You can pick up your submission starting at 10am on Sunday. All submissions not picked up by 3:00pm Sunday will become the property of CGL/CDT. We do not ship any miniatures.
Each entry will be judged on their own merit and on the quality of the entry. The decisions of the Judge/Judging Panel will be final.
