Feature Event
Overview
The feature event is a big, convention long scenario based on the Battletech fiction. This event is not recommended for young or casual players as many advanced rules and units besides mechs are used.
Like most of the scenarios the CDT runs feature event has gone through many variations over the years and used to be commonly known as the "canon" event. Currently the feature event is using the Vimy Ridge model which means there is one large centralized board but players/teams can also elect to send players to go off and play smaller battles on hexmaps in order to win strategic goals or benefits for the big board. For a more a game more similar to old "canon" where there is only one board with just two teams see the Throwback Thursday event.
Feature Event (Classic)
This year at Gencon there will be two slots of feature event on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday (10am and 2pm).Â
Each day is a single event split into two slots. So, play will not reset at the second session. However, each day is a unique event and will be set-up uniquely from the day prior.
Descriptions as posted in Event Listings
Short:
A linked campaign based on game-related fiction.
Long:
This veteran level event is continuous all day (the board does not reset between sessions on the same day) but each day is a different battle (the board is reset before the beginning of the next day). However, all days are linked together as part of this larger campaign and the outcome of all days will help determine the overall outcome determined Saturday night. Players do not need to play in all sessions but often find doing so better preserves the flavor of the campaign for them.
