Pixton
Access Pixton ⬇️
Pixton is a paid website for creating comics with a 7 day free trial. It has different setups for students and educators and a dedicated interface for comic creation. It also supports the creation of classrooms. The editor is quite easy to use, supported by a library of elements for avatar/prop making. It does not accept any type of content other than the one already provided.
SEN students that struggle socializing might find this tool useful for expressing themselves, especially non-verbal students. The avatar creation allows for personalized characters that might help students feel better represented. It also allows for recording narration after the comic is made, which might be of use for students with visual impairments. Beyond this, the website has no accesibility tools.
Possible task: What happened?
Time allotted: 30 mins
Individually, Sts will be given a scenario to depict in their comic. Afterwards, the other Sts will have to guess "what happened" before the "picture" was taken.
In this task, according to the SAMR framework, we are still working at the Augmentation level, as this task is a direct substitution of one that could be done without the technology, but with certain augmentations, such as the ability for the piece to be printed, shared with other schools, and easily edited afterwards. In this task, according to the PLANIED (Plan Nacional de Educación Digital) framework, we are working with some of the core dimensions of the plan, as we are involving play, independent working and active community. The students are having fun by challenging each other, as well as sharing their work that they've done independently.
