En 2012 apareceu en Time 100, unha lista anual das 100 persoas máis influíntes do mundo, segundo Time Magazine.
"Tomar a iniciativa vale a pena.
Sheryl Sandberg (August 28, 1969) is a technology executive, activist and author. She is the chief operating officer of Facebook, and the founder of Leanin. org .
Born in Washington, D.C. to a Jewish family, she studied at Harvard and in 1991 she graduated summa cum laude with a bachelor's degree in economics, and after that she worked for a while at the World Bank. In 1995 she obtained a MBA with the highest distinction at Harvard Business School.
Later, she served as the chief of staff of Lawrence Summers, Secretary of the Treasury of the United States during the Clinton administration. When Republicans won in 2000, she moved to Silicon Valley and worked for Google as vice president of global online sales and operations. In 2008, she started working for Facebook as a Chief Operating Officer, and in 2012 she became the eighth member and the first woman of the board of directors.
In 2012 she appeared in the Time 100, an annual list of the 100 most influential people in the world, according to Time Magazine.
In her first book, "Lean In: Women, Work, and the Will to Lead", published in 2013, she argues that it is necessary to break social and personal barriers that prevent women from performing leadership work, such as discrimination, sexism, sexual harassment, or the gender roles that women themselves internalize. Sheryl thinks it is necessary to encourage women to start taking leadership positions, because she believes that having more women in positions of power will create more equitable opportunities for all. "Taking initiative pays off. It is hard to visualize someone as a leader if she is always waiting to be told what to do."
