The Contest Chair

Are you ready for this year’s display and contest? There are only four months left for you to build something to display. Bring an item to display because you will have a reasonable chance that you will go home with an Award Certificate. Following are some of the events that may occur in the contest room that award certificates:

POPULAR VOTE

All entries in the contest room are eligible for a popular vote by convention attendees, who choose their favorite models. This vote will be held on Saturday morning.

MINI DIORAMA

The mini diorama is limited to a footprint of 144 sq-in or less. The object is to encourage model building in a one square foot area.

ACHIEVEMENT PROGRAM

This program will be available for those members desiring a formal critique of their model for a Merit Award per NMRA judging guidelines.

SPECIAL CATEGORIES

There will be two at this year’s convention: A diorama with a Golden Spike Theme and a diorama with a Utah Theme. Photographs of the prototype scene that the modeler wishes to portray would be helpful for the judges. It is desirable that the scene portray is on a mini diorama, though that will not be a requirement.
