LOOKING BACK AT:
Five or six Rio Grande Division 6 members committed to Harold Huber, then RMR President, to host Rails Along the Rio Grande 2013 duringthe train ride up and over LaVeta Pass during the 2010 RMR Alamosa Convention.
Little did the “Red Shirt Team” know of the opportunities, challenges, joys of making new friends and pride of accomplishment that lay ahead.
Opportunities came in form of hosting pre-convention operating sessions, trying new activities like “Let Us Entertain You” including 6-time world champion hoop dancer, Nakota LaRance, the New Mexico Native American Artisan Series, Union Pacific and BNSF Nights including the Harvey Girls from Belen, NM and RMR President, Gary Myers, hosting the Division X Change and more.
Challenges came in the form of budget, logistics, organization, promotion, team building, etc. What a learning experience!
And the outcome? RARG 2013 wasn’t a perfect convention and train show; however, judging from all your kind verbal compliments, e-mails, cards, letters, articles in division newsletters, etc. - our “Red Shirt Team” came through with flying colors.
The members of our “Red Shirt Team” provided me with guidance, support, suggestions, challenges, expertise and pitched in and “took care of business.” No leader could ask for a better team of great people. I am proud to be a team member.
