ROCKY MOUNTAIN REGION
OPINION POLL 2013.01
The Rocky Mountain Region takes on the NMRA!
Do you know the differences between the RMR Judged Model Contest and National Contest Awards? In the Rocky Mountain Region, the “Best of Show Award” is the Caboose Award presented by Caboose Hobbies, to the model which scores the highest point total by AP judging, along with a 1st Place NMRA Award in its’ appropriate category. The Best of Show Award in the National AP Judged Model Contest is known as the Gold Award, and is selected as follows:
Gold Award – Shall be chosen by a group of judges selected by the National Contest Chairman from the first place winners in each category generally but not necessarily based on the model receiving the highest point score. The model receiving the Gold Award shall be considered the Best-of-Show in the judged model contest. After selection, the Gold Award winning model shall be removed from its individual category and the first, second and third place awards reassigned to the remaining models in that category based on point score.
This means that at the National convention, a 2nd place model now is 1st in its class, 3rd becomes 2nd, and 4th is moved up to 3rd place.
What do you think?
___ I prefer National’s selection process, and agree with promoting a 2nd place model to 1st
___ I prefer National’s selection process, but disagree with promoting a 2nd place model to 1st
___ I don’t really have an opinion or care

___ I have entered over 50 entries in AP judged model contests
___ I have entered 20-49 entries in AP judged model contests
