William Parrott Brough of Staffordshire and Surrey, England, and his English, Scottish and Canadian Descendants

William Parrott Brough (1783-1853) was christened in 1783 in Trentham, Staffordshire. He was the son of Richard Brough and Ellen Parrott, and the older brother of Richard Brough (1786-1873)--after whom the Richard Brough Family Organization (RBFO) is named.

William Parrott Brough married Charlotte Stanley (1785-1856) in 1822 in London, and served as a "Butler" to Lady Elizabeth Clements (who was born in Dublin, Ireland) in Chelsea, Middlesex. William Parrott Brough died in 1853 in Long Ditton, Surrey. William and Charlotte had three children: William Brough (1824-1913), Thomas Brough (1827-1902), and Charlotte Brough (b.1829).

William Brough (1824-1913) married Elizabeth Symons (1822-1906) in 1845 in Devonshire. William and Elizabeth lived in Caterham, Surrey, where William worked as a "Schoolmaster" and served for five decades as the "Parish Clerk" of St. Mary the Virgin church in Caterham. William Brough died in 1913 and is buried in St. Lawrence churchyard in Caterham, Surrey. William and Elizabeth had three children: Charlotte Brough (b.1846), Margaret Baker Brough (b.1847), and William Stanley Brough (b.1849).

The youngest child of William Brough (1824-1913) was William Stanley Brough, who was born in 1849 in Hampstead, Middlesex. As a young man, William Stanley worked as a "Clerk" in Hampstead. In 1875, he married Maria Clayton of Hampstead, and they had four sons during the first eight years of their marriage: William Stanley Clayton Brough (1878-1954), Bernard Elford Brough (1880-1947), Reginald Clayton Brough (1882-1957), and Norman Elford Brough (1883-1965). During his married life, William Stanley worked as a "Clerk", "Accountant", "Mercantile Clerk" and "Commercial Clerk". He died of a "Malignant disease of [the] Liver" in 1910 in Buckinghamshire, England.

Between 1910 and 1916, all four sons of William Stanley Brough immigrated to Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. During World War I, William Stanley Clayton Brough and Bernard Elford Brough served in the Canadian Over-Seas Expeditionary Forces.

During their lifetime and while residing in British Columbia, Canada, William Stanley Clayton Brough worked as a "Commercial Clerk" and as a "Bank Messenger"; Bernard Elford Brough worked as a "Farmer" and a "Bond Salesman"; Reginald Clayton Brough worked as a "Farmer of Mixed Farming"; and Norman Elford Brough worked as a "Farmer of Dairy and Berries". Of these four brothers, only one ever married and had any posterity: William Stanley Clayton Brough, who married Evelyn Carrie Bates in 1915 in Vancouver. Today the posterity of William and Evelyn Brough still mostly reside in British Columbia, Canada.

Thomas Brough (1827-1902) married Sarah Drake (1821-1887) in 1852 in London. Thomas and Sarah lived in Southwark, Middlesex; Newington, Surrey; and Camberwell, London; where Thomas worked as a "Commercial Clerk". Thomas died in 1902 and he and his wife, Sarah, are both buried in St. Mary the Virgin churchyard, Caterham, Surrey. Today, most of Thomas and Sarah's descendants live in England and Scotland.
