Ruth Brough

Locker's of

Kingsley, Staffordshire, England

In January 2017 the Research Committee of the Brough Family Organization (BFO) conducted extensive research into the Locker families of Kingsley, Staffordshire, England, from the early 1500’s to the late 1700’s.

On 21 April 1689, John Locker married Ruth Brough in Kingsley, Staffordshire, England. John was the son of Richard Locker and Susana of Kingsley; and Ruth was the daughter of Thomas Brough of Leek and Margaret Adams of Burslem. Between 1690 and 1707, John and Ruth had eight children--all of whom were christened in Kingsley.

The Will of John Locker (partially shown below) was dated 25 February 1712 and proved on 24 September 1712 (and is listed in FHL Film # 95869). This Will states that John Locker was a "Husbandman" of "Kingsley" and that his "beloved wife" was named "Ruth" and that they had "children".

In February 2017 the BFO Research Committee compiled genealogical information on the Locker family of Kingsley and released a BFO Research Report on the Locker Families of Kingsley, Staffordshire, England, 1500's to 1700's. The BFO hopes that the genealogical information contained within this research report will prove to be of value to those interested in the Locker families of Kingsley
