Standard 8 - Collaborative Relationships – The competent teacher builds and maintains collaborative relationships to foster cognitive, linguistic, physical, and social and emotional development. This teacher works as a team member with professional colleagues, students, parents or guardians, and community members.
Description of artifact: This is a reward program that is school-wide. This is just one part of the reward program which focuses just on one student. The other part is when other people can nominate a whole classroom for the class of the month reward.
Connection to IPTS: This artifact is connected to standard 8C) collaborates with others in the use of data to design and implement effective school
interventions that benefit all students; This is a school-wide program that allows students to earn a bark bite for good behavior in the 4 areas listed on the front.
What was learned: I learned how students find the best in the smallest things. I was able to witness the pure excitement when a student received a bark bite since they got their name said over the morning announcements.
Description of artifact: This is just one example of a Peek at the week that the assistant principal sends out on Sunday so that all teachers get an idea of what is going on for the week and if people are absent with ahead-of-time notice.
Connection to IPTS: This artifact is connected to standard 8J) works with all school personnel (e.g., support staff, teachers, paraprofessionals) to develop learning climates for the school that encourage unity, support a sense of shared purpose, show trust in one another, and value individuals; This allows any teacher to see what is going to happen and gives them some support from people who might be coming in.
What was learned: I learned how important it is for anyone especially teachers to have an admin who will send out things like this to let teachers in on what is happening for the week.
