Artifact Description: This is a PowerPoint that I created to teach the 2nd-grade class about function machines for math time.
connection to ITPS standard: This artifact is connected to the standard of 2L) demonstrates fluency in technology systems, uses technology to support instruction and enhance student learning, and designs learning experiences to develop student skills in the application of technology appropriate to the disciplines. This PowerPoint got the students learning all about the function machines in a fun way so that they could complete worksheets that were handed out the next day or even play one of the McGraw Hill games online.
description of what was learned: This PowerPoint taught me how to teach a math concept that I struggled with in elementary school. I also learned that the easiest way to do something like this is to have the problems already written out for the students to just fill in the answers.
Artifact Description: This is a worksheet that I created for my students to cut and paste answers into the boxes to compare and contrast two books of Little Red Riding Hood that were read during whole group reading time.
connection to ITPS standard: This artifact is connected to the standard of 2C) understands the cognitive processes associated with various kinds of learning (e.g., critical and creative thinking, problem-structuring and problem-solving, invention, memorization, and recall) 2 and ensures attention to these learning processes so that students can master content standards; The students had a hands on activity that they had to recall information about the two little red ridinghood books such as who were the main characters and what was the problem.
description of what was learned: I learned how to make a comparison chart on Google Slides so that it is bigger for the students to fill out the chart. I also leaned how to use ideas to make the informastion easier ofr students to understand.
