Standard 5 - Instructional Delivery – The competent teacher differentiates instruction by using a variety of strategies that support critical and creative thinking, problem-solving, and continuous growth and learning. This teacher understands that the classroom is a dynamic environment requiring ongoing modification of instruction to enhance learning for each student.
Artifact description: This is a voice-level chart that I helped create for the teacher. This shows both the words of the different kinds of talk levels we must have in the classroom and the hallway.
Connection to ITPS standard: This artifact is connected to 5E) knows techniques for modifying instructional methods, materials, and the environment to facilitate learning for students with diverse learning characteristics; This is connected to that standard because this provides not only the words for the talking level but also a picture to pair with it.
Description of what was learned: I Learned how important it is to have a real-life picture of how you want your students to be instead of clip art. I also learned that you can use a special kind of spray paint so you do not get glare on laminated signs
Artifact Description: These are programs that the students use for reading and Language development. Lexia Core5 was the one for the students whose first language is English while Lexia English helps the ELL students learn English using a program.
Connection to ITPS standard: This artifact is connected to standard 5N) uses technology to accomplish differentiated instructional objectives that enhance learning for each student; and standard 5Q) uses effective co-planning and co-teaching techniques to deliver instruction to all students. They are connected to both standards since this program also gets used when the ELL students get pulled in the am with an ELL teacher.
Description of what was learned: I learned that some programs offer the same kind of program but for students who get pulled for different services such as ELL. I also learned how the same program can be different depending on the level of help you need.
