My name is Brianna Maher, my major is Elementary Education and my minor is Special Education, I am in the adult undergraduate program at Trinity Christian College. I worked as a paraprofessional in a Communications Development classroom of 2nd and 3rd graders in the school district of Lyons 103. I was sent to work with the Communications Development classroom of 6th and 7th graders right before student teaching. As a paraprofessional, I have gotten the chance to work with a student who did not like being in the group setting while remote one-on-one. This helped me understand what it is like to be a teacher since I had to work with the head teacher to get the information she needed to know across to her over Google Meets.
As an educator, I strive to have an open mind and I believe that all children are capable of learning. I plan for my students to always feel wanted and welcomed in my classroom. My students will always be encouraged to participate in my classroom. I want the students in my classroom to be supportive of each other no matter what. My classroom will have the feeling of a second home to the students no matter what grade level they are in.
