I near the cross heart beating loud
I step out alone from the maddening crowd
Full of the guilt of every man
With weapons clutched in both my hands
I pound my nails of envy, greed, and pride
Thrust my sword of hate into his side
While he looks on me with eyes of love
Bearing all the sin I couldn't let go of
He breathed his last and then he died
Realization hits and I'm horrified
My sin is gone but at what cost
The pain, the suffering, the loss
Of him who loved me first and best
Whom I betrayed when put to test
But that's not where the story ends
On the third day he rose again
Not just a ghost from and empty grave
But a living God with the power to save
The power to heal, comfort, and restore
To transform me and what's more
He welcomes me who did him harm
And holds me tight with loving arms
