I’m a soldier in a valley of dry bones
Longing for a home
My strength is spent
My arrows sent
My sword is bent
My armor’s worn
My flesh is torn
And my spirit mourns
I long for tendons, life, and breath
But when I look ’round
All I see is death
Of hope and joy
Of peace and rest
I see others blessed
But my life’s a mess
Too much for me to bear alone
A wounded warrior on my own
But not when I come before your throne
Your yoke is easy
Your burden light
When I let you direct the fight
You carry the load I cannot bear
Free me from worry, doubt, despair
Raise up an army of those like me
Who know our need
And let you lead
Open up this grave and set me free
To follow you through eternity
