The enemy's a roaring lion
Seeking whom he may devour
Attacking all that's in his path
Bird and beast and tree and flower
And if he cannot kill or maim
He wants instead to make us lame
Crippled by complacency
Imprisoned by impatience we
Let fear and doubt and jealousy
Become the only things we see
And then we act impulsively
Deceived by all his lies
But though he constantly condemns
God's promises are yes, amen
And while my head knows this so well
My heart gets caught in Satan's spell
And then it struggles to believe
Those promises were meant for me
A sinner who is saved by grace
When Jesus died to take my place
But there are tools to fight my unbelief
The belt of truth, the shoes of peace
The Spirit's sword, the shield of faith
Salvation's helmet to make me brave
Righteousness to guard my breast
And prayer to cover all the rest
So every day I fight the fight
Put on my armor and claim the right
To come before God's heavenly throne
A beloved child heading home
