I am a Senior at BLHS, and I am most interested in marine animals and their behaviors. I became fascinated with marine animals after seeing orcas as a kid, and I have dreamed of being a marine biologist since. I decided to go into pharmacology to be able to continue my interest in science and make the world a better place.
Outside of Research, I am an active participant in my school's programs. I have been a member of Scholars Bowl, Science Olympiad, Mathletes, Orchestra, Marching Band, Concert Band, Jazz Band, Choir, TSA, NHS, Robotics, the BLHS Swim Team and Art Club.
My post-high school goals include:
I am hoping to study Biology at USC, Seattle University, or Drake University. I plan to get my PhD in Pharmacology and go on to be a research Pharmacologist.
STEM courses I have taken include: Honors Biology, Geometry, Honors Algebra II, Honors Chemistry, Honors Physics, Pre-Calculus, and Honors Scientific Research. I am currently enrolled in my second year of Honors Scientific Research, Calculus, and VEX Robotics.
Current research overview: I am studying how the microplastic Polyethylene Terephthalate affects the hermit crab Coenobita Compressus. I will be using a 30cm landmark maze combined with a reward system to test their ability to remember the location of objects in relation to other objects (allocentric spatial memory).
