I am a Junior at BLHS, and I am most interested in music, math, medicine, and engineering.
My post high school goals include: going to college to get a biomedical engineering degree.
STEM courses I have taken: IDEA, Integrated Math I, Honors Biology, Honors Integrated Math II, Introduction to Engineering Design, and Introduction to Industrial Technology, Honors Integrated Math III, Honors Chemistry, IDEA, and Drafting/CAD. I am currently enrolled in: IDEA, Honors Physics, VEX Robotics, Principles of Engineer, and Precalculus.
Current research overview: I am studying the effects of dissolving CO2 in the form of dry ice into water prior to concrete mixing. To do this, I will create six samples of concrete: two will be a control, containing no additional CO2, and the other four will contain 4 various concentrations of added CO2 in the form of carbonic acid.
CO2 emissions have been on the rise for years, but rather than limiting the level of CO2 being reduced, sequestering CO2 from the atmosphere will remove it. Concrete production makes up 8% of the world's CO2 emissions, with the current priority being to limit the level of CO2 being emitted. My research proposes an alternative by removing CO2 from the atmospheres.
