Please take a few minutes before the Game to discuss dice etiquette (e.g. when is a dice crooked or not, etc.), clear up any potential rules problems that might occur during the Game, and to ask questions about your opponent’s army and the special rules that apply to it.
Warhammer: the Old World is a complex game and, as such, players will occasionally disagree in their interpretation of the rules. These issues should always be solved in a friendly and relaxed way, keeping in mind The Most Important Rule! If your opponent wishes to reread a rule, give your opponent the time to do so. Your opponent is not questioning your knowledge of the Game but enhancing her / his own! Players are free to settle any disagreement with the roll of dice, in which case the outcome is final and will apply for the remainder of the game. If one of the players wishes to call over the event staff, they are free to do so.
The event staff will assist in one of two ways:
They will look up the appropriate rule in the relevant publications and show this to the players.
They will roll a dice if the above does not solve the problem.
A Note on Active Judging: Should the event staff notice something on the tabletop that is not in accordance with the rules of the Game, they are allowed to interfere and point out the relevant rule in the Rulebook. The decision of the event staff is final, regardless of what solution they offer.
War is the sport of gentlemen. A gentleman is honourable in victory, and gracious in defeat. Cheating, extreme rule-bending and overall toxic behaviour will not be tolerated.
A gentleman is punctual and not tardy. To help the event run smoothly please make sure to hand in your Game score via New Recruit after the end of each Game, and cast your Best Army Vote and Sportsmanship Votes in the reserved timeslots (this will help us determine who wins the ‘Best Army’ and ‘Most Sporting Player’ Awards).
If you behave like a gentleman, you will even score some extra Event Points!
Warhammer: The Old World is still a relatively new game, and many players are still getting familiar with the (changing) rules and exploring their army. We recognise that the step from casual to event playing is a big one and might feel overwhelming or unsettling to some. At our Bloodstorm.nl Events, we want to welcome new people to the TOW (event) community with open arms.
If this is your first event, and you’re not entirely sure whether ‘this is for you’, or ‘if you are ready’, our message to you is simple: “just give it a go!”. Yes, you might encounter a hardened event veteran who knows every trick in the book, but this doesn’t mean you can’t have a great time and even learn a thing or two. Above all, we aim for everyone to have a amazing time, lots of laughs and to share our passion for one of the most iconic wargames of all time.
