About the BFA Program

The BFA in Art Practice, offered by the School of Art + Design at Portland State University, is a competitive four-year long program providing a comprehensive education in visual art practices, contemporary art theories and art history, with an emphasis on current trends in contemporary arts. The BFA Program provides students with a greater analysis of their work, conceptually, contextually and technically, in preparation for professional practice. Students research, develop, assemble and present a body of work, well researched, conceived and executed, culminating in a group exhibition at the end of the fourth year.
