Artist Statement:
My favorite color is yellow. It is often associated with sunshine, hope, and happiness. I strive to recreate these feelings.
My work plays with sentiments of belonging, rejection, anger, and understanding to create pieces that honor my mixed race heritage in a loud and vibrant way. I reference Salvadoran and American culture through textiles such as: embroidery, beading, natural fabric dyeing, weaving, and sewing. My work is about celebration; celebration of myself, my childhood, my values, and the rich culture I am proud to be part of.
