Artist Statement:

My medium is wearable garments. I see clothes as a sort of costume or vessel holding a character or personality. I enjoy working with clothing because there is a collaborative aspect to it that takes place. Working with models and photographers helps further the fantasy the garments portray. Making art that is functional to me means it’s officially activated or complete once it is worn (or performed in).

I am very devoted to the idea of creating clothing as sustainable as possible. Clothing has been abused by companies and consumers and has impacted us socially and environmentally. Today, clothing is seen as something disposable and modern society feels entitled to own an excessive amount of garments without the responsibility of making them, or acknowledging what happens to them once they are discarded. I want to be a part of a movement that changes the way we make and consume clothing. I enjoy working with natural, biodegradable fibers as well as second-hand materials or a combination of both.
