Artist Statement:

After a lifetime of being taught to contain myself & make myself small, I use mixed media to make present my experience of mania, anxiety, womanhood, and trans-ness. I use acrylic paint and alcohol markers to create work of varying scale intended to disrupt public space, subvert expectation, and draw viewers into a dialogue with their preconceptions of the world around them & that which they take for granted.

My practice engages materials and mark-making tools readily available to viewers and which encourage them to similarly engage their own surroundings. I seek to engage themes of self-assertion & affirmation, the thrill of the elicit, and challenging the devaluing of individual lives in favor of private property.

I want my work to inspire viewers to challenge their own expectations and open their eyes the possibilities of that which can be, so that they may transform their own reality.
