We all have a need to create systems and certainties in order to feel safe, and sometimes these systems function as planned. Yet often, as our safety structures evolve, and as we collectively and individually evolve as people, the structures begin to feel dangerously constrictive. At what point does one’s shelter become their cage? To explore and describe the mechanics of this dynamic relationship between logic and feeling, on both a personal and societal level, I combine the slow and steady predictability of pattern with a wild mess of Abstract Expressionism. I’m currently most excited about the potential of color, broken linear perspective, overt transparency, ambiguous edge, and varying speeds of production.
