At our last event, Kriselle Mahdi and I identified a LOT of plants and helped spread sumac seeds as well as other native plants. Kriselle attended an event through TNS where she learned a lot about asters, and she shared that knowledge with us. Lucky for us, there are plenty of different asters at Betty Sutherland so there was a lot of learning! Mahdi was curious about the less traversed monitoring plot area that contains the Japanese Knotweed patch, which led us to discovering so many different plants in that area. We could have easily spent more time there, especially since the conditions were extremely favourable - it was dry and bug free.
We also got to see a very large (likely painted) turtle that was sunbathing on a log (see above). Overall, it was another beautiful day to be out in nature learning from plants and others! It was an amazing way to celebrate our 15th session this seasonš„³!
