Bahareh and I went deep into the woods to clip the small Japanese Knotweed patch. It was so wonderful to see native horsetails and goldenrods as well as potential native gooseberries spreading towards that patch. We also plan to try to spread some native jewelweed seeds from nearby plants in the future (there is a healthy patch a few meters away) to make it harder for the japanese knotweed to spread any further. While we found a few larger stalks, most were small and the patch continues to decrease in size. Due to safety concerns as a result of the extreme heat, we ended early. Bahareh has clipped this patch twice now which is a huge accomplishment given the abundance of mosquitoes! We are so grateful to those extra dedicated stewards that return often! And a big welcome to anyone new here! We always look forward to meeting new stewards!
