Our group on Saturday consisted of our veteran Kriselle, and newcomer Chimine who brought family and friends to join in removing litter, learning to ID native and invasive plants and pulling some garlic mustard too! Thank you all for joining us on the first event and helping to make a positive impact! Read on to see what we discovered and how you can get involved in our next event. A big welcome to anyone new here, we're excited to have you and hope you will come out to one of our events!
One of our highlights was coming across this mysterious skull seen below.
PC: Kriselle Mendonca
What could it be? Possum, coyote, fox? Thanks to Krielle's friend, it seems like it could be a racoon!
We also spotted many beautiful birds like an Oriole, Cardinal and a few others that we couldn't identify with certainty.
Kriselle also recorded this video of a coyote crossing the Don river right after our event. It seems many are being spotted across the city right now. They are incredibly important to our ecosystems, keeping deers and ticks in check amongst many other important tasks that they carry out. If you would like to learn more about coyotes and how to safely co-exist, the City of Toronto has a free course here.
We also found many native plants like trout lilies and blood roots, which are amongst the first native plants to show up at this time of year.

There's always so much to see and learn! We hope you will join us next time if you weren't able to make it out last Saturday!
