As my career has progressed, I have been able to mentor and advise various levels of students and colleagues. Currently, I am advising twelve graduate-level students in the Physician Assistant Program (PA). My role with the PA students is to help guide them in making career decisions, national board preparation, and general PA survival skills and support. I meet at least once each semester with students whose cumulative grades are 80% or above. Based on our policy, the students with lower cumulative grades must meet me once a month. Suppose students have questions or are having difficulties with coursework that may influence staying on their proposed degree plan. In that case, they can stop by my office during office hours or email me to schedule an appointment. I spend a lot of time with students with poor academic performance. First, I try to learn her/his struggles, background, and study method, then share my thoughts and recommendations with them to ensure they overcome such obstacles.
