The first episode of Outlander, the STARZ series based on Diana Gabaldon's books, opens with Claire, a WWII combat nurse really wanting to buy a vase. She's never really been settled enough to warrant having a vase before and now that the war is over and she's not stitching up soldiers anymore, she wants a vase. A couple of days later, she touches some magical rocks and falls back in time to the Jacobite rebellion and falls in love with a Hot Scot and never gets her damn vase. (In the book, she just buys it on the spot.) In my tribute to Outlander, she touches the vase and it sends her back in time, where she has to explain things like bras and zippers, all while she looks for gemstones that will allow her to get back to the vase.
