My first ever number, in which I channel my inner suburban mom neat freak, stripping out of pleated jeans and a fleece vest, folding each article of clothing after I remove it. Performed at October 2016 NYSB student showcase at the Slipper Room and twice at Show Us Your Wits at QED.
Music: "World Looking In" by Morcheeba
Debuted at Magical Girl Burlesque's 2018 Battlestrip show at Bizarre Bushwick; also performed at 2018 NJ Burlypicks at Roxy and Dukes. Number about getting catcalled on the worst day of your period.
*note modifications since video: slight costume change (yoga pants to jeans); my banter now recorded into music so I can lip synch
Music: Custom: "Hey Mami" with voiceover responses to catcalls. Custom mix by Benjamin Furiga.
An homage to that most-loved of McSweeney's articles "It's Decorative Gourd Season, Motherfuckers!", this act celebrates everything autumnal, from Pumpkin Spice Lattes to autumn leaf pasties. Performed at Magical Girl Burlesque's New Review, October 2018 NYSB student showcase at Drom, and Keep It Creative at The Keep.
*note modifications since video: Red bra to match panties, slight choreography changes

A holiday act, this tribute to Seinfeld's season nine episode "The Strike" has most of the elements of Festivus-- an aluminum pole, the airing of grievances (the audience gets involved!), and the ultimate feat of strength, woman vs. foundation garment. There is, however, no meatloaf on a bed of lettuce. This act debuted at Metropolis Burlesque's Six Geeks A-Stripping show at Bizarre Bushwick and has been performed at Jersey City Burlesque and Two Sharks.
Music: Custom mix-- "Oh Tannenbaum" by the Vince Guraraldi Trio, "Christmas Eve/Sarajevo 12/24" by Trans Siberian Orchestra, and dialogue from the show. Custom mix by Benjamin Furiga.
An act inspired by Act III, scene 2 of King Lear, this debuted at Bibliothèque's inaugural show, ShakesBARE. It's hard to have much sympathy for Lear-- he plays a game of who loves me most chicken with his daughters, then banishes his favorite when she won't blow smoke up his ass. Then he gets mad when the other two daughters are less than enthusiastic about hosting not just Lear, but his rowdy retinue of 100 soldiers. Regan and Goneril are still evil, as later eyeball gouging and poisoning evidence, but they do try to bargain with him on the retinue. He's not having it, though, and, pouty at the prospect of being denied even one soldier, exits into the storm with only his fool and Kent, who is still inexplicably loyal to Lear, but none of his soldiers,. You showed them, old man. This act debuted at Bibliothèque Burlesque's "ShakesBARE" and has also been featured at Two Sharks.
Music: Custom-- "It's Raining Men" by the Weather Girls with King Lear monologue performed by Ross Williams. Custom mix by Benjamin Furiga.
This tribute to Diana Gabaldon's Outlander books and the STARZ series based on them debuted at Bibliothèque Burlesque's The Book Was Better at Caveat. In this act, Claire falls back in time and has to explain things like zippers, bras, and bikini waxes while she looks for he jewels that will allow her to return to the 20th century. This act debuted at Bibliothèque Burlesque's The Book Was Better and has also been performed at Magical Girl Burlesque's New Review.
Music: Custom-- "Skye Boat Song" by Band of the Scots Guards & Pipes & Drums of the 1st Battalion Scots Guards, "Bad Romance" by Bags of Rock, "Skye Boat Song (Castle Leoch Version)" by Bear McCreary feat. Raya Yarborough, and sound bytes from seasons 1-3 of Outlander. Custom mix by Benjamin Furiga.
This act features elements of classical burlesque but also considers how the 24 hour news cycle affects us, especially in light of the current administration. The news cycle is an exercise in morbid fascination. Every day, there’s another awful new thing before the awful thing from the day before is resolved. It’s soul-crushing and impossible to look away from. I deal by doing a fan dance with the New York Times. This act debuted at Magical Girl Burlesque's New Review and was featured in Bibliothèque Burlesque's A Salute to the ConsTITution.
*note modifications since video-- changes in choreography (less fan work, clearer end)
Music: Custom-- "French Fries and Champagne" by the Hot Sardines, New York Times Oscars Night Commercial. Custom mix by Benjamin Furiga.
This act is based on Angela Carter's “The Company of Wolves”, a short story from her 1979 collection The Bloody Chamber. The story is a re-imagining of the Little Red Riding Hood story. It’s true to the story’s cautionary tale roots in that it deals with sexual awakening, but unlike the brothers Grimm, Charles Perrault, and Stephen Sondheim, this story gives the young woman some agency, along with some wolfy characteristics. There’s also a 1985 movie directed by Neil Jordan and starring Angela Landsbury, that looks kind of like Jim Henson directed a Kate Bush video. This act debuted at Bibliothèque Burlesque's Literary Monsters: Things That Go Bump and Grind in the Night.
Music: Custom-- "Red Coat" by Rasha Jay* with voice over from "The Company of Wolves" by Angela Carter. Custom mix by Benjamin Furiga.
*Rasha Jay was SUPER supportive of this project. Check out her Sound Cloud here or follow her on Instagram @rashajaymusic
This act is inspired by Sarai Walker's 2015 novel Dietland, which was the basis of the AMC series by the same name. The novel and the show both deal with women's rage, body image, and a group of radical feminists who call themselves JENNIFER. This act debuted at Bibliothèque Burlesque's "I've Been Meaning To Read That!"
Music: Custom-- "Kiss" by Prince and "Jennifer's Body" by hole with voice over from Dietland by Sarai Walker and featuring voiceover work from Kaitlin Overton, Emily Cordes, Nicole Orbana, and Rhoda Dendron. Custom mix by Benjamin Furiga.
