TERM 2

Strengthening Students' Conceptual Understanding in Social Studies Using Game Theory and Gamification

Do you find it difficult to explain abstract concepts to your students? Concept-based learning is a powerful approach to teaching that emphasises the development of deep understanding and transferable skills. This approach is particularly useful in the Humanities, where abstract concepts can be difficult to grasp. By using Game Theory and concept-based learning, teachers can help students develop metacognition, and promote student agency by inviting learners to construct meaning and articulate their own understanding. By teaching through concepts, teachers can ensure coherence and transferability of learning, and help students see patterns, make connections, and ultimately apply their learning beyond the context of the unit.
