Getting a master in education has been an exciting and rewarding journey. The Applied Digital Learning program at Lamar University was the perfect fit for me. I was able to adapt to the online self passed learning and had the flexibility to focus on projects on a topic that matters to me. The course uses the COVA & CSLE approach to learning and has become a model of what online courses should look like. For my final assignment I created an blending team building professional development that incorporates art and technology that can be utilized in the classroom.
In 2024-2025 school year, I began mentoring another art teachers in my current district. I worked with Region 13's LaunchPad Program to get technology into art teachers and student's hands. During this experience I grew my ability to mentor and coach.
Google for Education July 3, 2021 - July 3, 2024
After receiving the Certified Digital Educator and Apple Teacher I was heard about Google Certified Educator from the technology department in my district. I knew this was the next nature step to take on my journey as an educator. After reviewing my understand of Google Suite applications, I successes in acquiring the level 1 and 2 certification.
The technology department saw my love of design and desire to integrate more technology in the art room. So in the Summer of 2020 when I was offered the opportunity to attend Apple CEI (Coding Educator Initiative) I was over come with joy. And I didn't stop there, over the following school year I continued my studies until I qualitied for a the Certified Digital Educator and Apple Teacher.
Summer of 2020 I started the Apple CEI. In the spring of 2021 I created 10 digital art activities that solidified by knowledge of digital art. Each activity can be completed on a Chromebook or iPad; I wanted student to see the relation in different devices. You can create no matter what you have. Student K through 2nd has iPad to complete activates. First finishers could access the homeroom computer to participate in the laptop version of the activity as well. 3rd grade and higher has Chromebooks; after they completed the activity with their device, they got access to the iPad cart and a smart pencil I brought to class to extend their learning. Older students worked for that reward to use smart pencils and redraw ideas on a table.
After my student teaching in Leader ISD and receiving my EC-12 certificate, I worked as a substitute teacher for Austin ISD and Elgin ISD. In the Spring on 2015 I was hired to be a reading interventionist in Elgin ISD. I enjoyed reading with elementary students and remained focused on networking to achieve my dream job of teaching art. That Fall I was offered an art teaching job at another elementary school in Elgin ISD. I have remained at that location for the past few years and developed my own teach style, still in love with teaching art.

During my time at UNT I worked from the Fall of 2010 - Spring 2012 as the Paint Charge for the Theatre Department. I was in charge of creating painting schedule for theatre productions, mixing paint, maintaining the paint counter and storage, overseeing undergraduate students painting set pieces, painting the more difficult parts of the set.
