Each January and February we take a look at dragon myths from around the world and create our own dragon in the art room. Students are encouraged to think about adaptations and the dragon's habitat as they come up with their design. Working on 3D paper manipulation, we make a puppet base and learn about adding layers to create our own desired effect. We use recycled paper from the teacher's workroom to make our idea sketch a reality. Students also get a chance to learn about Chinese New Year and hold their own dragon puppet parade once they have finished.
