Kahoot! is a quiz-like game that students can play in the classroom or remotely. Players can participate on Chromebooks or mobile devices such as cellphones and tablets. Students can compete in groups or play solo for a high score. This method of assessment is highly engaging for students as they will feel as if they are playing a game, rather than being assessed for knowledge. Create your own quiz or choose from one of the millions of pre-made quizzes from other users.
There are a few ways that you may want to use Kahoot! in your classroom.
Use Kahoot! at the start of a lesson or class to gauge prior knowledge and understanding of the subject matter. This will help you better tailor your instructions to the needs of your students.
Let students create quiz questions or whole quizzes as a way for them to self-assess knowledge and display what they know while helping other students to learn.
Concept & content review - prior to a summative assessment, have students review the lesson content to see what they understand or what may need further exploration. A fun, fast-paced game will surely take the stress off the test!
Here is a Kahoot! quiz that I made about artist Roy Lichtenstein for my students to review key facts and points about his style and techniques.
