How to Install & Setup Arlo Home Security Cameras

The Arlo Ultra 2, Pro 4, and Arlo Pro 3 cameras have broader fields of view than the other cameras in the Arlo lineup. Although these cameras are more expensive, they may be required to cover your property with fewer total cameras because to their greater field of vision.

What do you need when go for arlo installation?

A Netgear base station with IP cameras and a (modem) router

Your wireless network's password

a network connection

You'll need a free outlet close to your router.

A smartphone, a laptop, or a desktop computer (connected to the same network as the IP camera)

Step 1: connect the base station

You must first set up the base station before you can use the Netgear Arlo IP cameras. This is how you do it:

  1. Connect the power cable to the base station and plug it into a wall outlet.

  2. One end of the network cable should be plugged into the base station.

  3. Connect the other end to the router (modem).

  4. By pressing the 'On / Off' button on the rear of the arlo base station, you can turn it on.

  5. The power and internet led lights turn green after about 2 minutes. The device is now operational.

Step 2: pair the ip cameras

The IP cameras have yet to be linked to the base station. Before you can start using the IP cameras, you must first synchronise them:

  1. Provide batteries (Arlo) or a battery for the IP camera (Arlo Pro). As part of the package, these are included.

  2. With the button on the top of the IP camera, open the lid.

  3. In the device, place the batteries or accumulator.

  4. Close the lid.

  5. At the base station, raise the IP camera to a height of one metre.

  6. For 2 seconds, press and hold the sync button on the side (Arlo) or top (Arlo Pro) of the base station. The sync light on the base station's front will blink. When this occurs, release the button.

  7. Wait until the device's sync light glows green on the front.

  8. For 2 seconds, push and hold the sync button on the top of the IP camera. At the front of the IP camera, a blue light flashes. When you see something, let go of it.

  9. Wait until the LED light on the IP camera's front blinks blue rapidly. This indicates that the synchronisation was successful.

  10. Steps 1 through 9 should be repeated for the remaining IP cameras.

  11. It's time to configure the base station.

Step 3: set up the IP cameras

It's time to set the IP cameras now that the base station is up and running and the IP cameras are linked. Open a web browser on your computer or download the app on your iOS or Android device.

  • On your phone, open the Arlo app, or go to http://arlo.netgear.com on your PC.

  • Choose the 'Arlo newbie?' option.

  • Select a product from the drop-down menu. Then choose the device you discovered. *

  • You create the account you'll use in the new screen.

  • Set up your email address first.

  • Then select a password and enter it in the area below.

  • Now type your name into the box.

  • You must now select a security question and an answer in order to maybe restore your account.

  • Accept the terms of service and the privacy statement.

  • At the bottom of the page, click 'Next.'

  • You can select a service plan for your recordings on the next screen. You don't want to pay, and you think 7 days of cloud recording is enough? Then scroll down to the green 'Basic' button and tap it.

  • You will now be sent to the application's main screen. The base station and cameras have been installed. You can examine the photographs and adjust the cameras from here. Consider motion detection with night vision, for example.

If your system isn't found, you can fix it by resetting it. A little hole on the rear of the gadget with the label 'Reset' underneath it may be found. Here's where you'll find a button. With a paper clip, press and hold this button for more than 10 seconds until the LED lights on the front flash red. Then let go of the button. Then wait for the LED lights to turn green once more. Re-synchronize the cameras and repeat the processes above from the beginning.

Step 4: place the cameras

Place the IP cameras no further than 90 metres from the base station.

Use the included magnetic mounts to mount the IP cameras to a wall or set them on a flat surface.

Place the IP cameras in a safe distance from each other. Make sure the distance between the base station and the IP cameras is at least 3 metres, and the distance between the IP cameras is at least 2 metres.

Note that the 90-meter distance refers to an open area. As a result, you will have limited range in a residence. Wifi is used by the Netgear Arlo.
