A collection of the books
The Vedas are scriptures that are comprised of Vedic Sanskrit and originated in ancient India. The Sanskrit word Véda meaning consciousness or disclosure is derived from the root word Vid meaning to know, that is the whole knowledge is contained in this single word “Veda” , We can see how even the name'veda' has a deep meaning. Veda is the world’s oldest drafted document and it is believed by many that they have exited since the beginning of time . In common language, Veda is referred to as Knowledge. In fact, knowledge overcomes all the obstacles and reduces darkness that resides in one’s mind , so it is given much imporatance in the vedas , you must have observed it in the shlokas on every page. The Vedas are the chief support of our Indian culture.
RIG VEDA: Amongst all the Vedas, The Rig Veda is the oldest. It constitutes 10 books (known as mandalas) of 1,028 hymns of 10,600 verses. These verses scrutinize themselves with proper religious observance and practice about the universal vibrations heard by the sages, and the sages also address fundamental questions regarding existence.
Many of the Hindu prayers and rituals are influenced by the verses of Rig Veda. Rig Veda comprises the explanation of the art of living and the origin of the world. The people enchant the mantras to praise the power of the almighty, this also helps in calming one's mind.
SAM VEDA - It is knowledge delivered in the form of songs, the melody of knowledge , Krishna said in Bhagavad Gita. that “Amongst the Vedas, I'm the Sama Veda”
The Sama Veda consists of texts meant to be sung, some scholars also found a link between the rig and sam Veda, as rig Veda works as a lyric dictionary for sam Veda!!. It is comprised of 1,549 verses and 1875 mantras.
Sama Veda is divided into two sections:
The Gana (melodies).
The Arcika (verses).
The Sama Veda elevates the soul because the melodies combined with the words are thought to encourage dance. It is said that Sama Veda had originally 1000 sakhas(branches) but only 3 are available in present times. Among all the four Vedas, Sama Veda is the shortest Veda. The Sam Veda is considered to be the oldest music organization in the world because it contains all types of music, mantra, Chandra, and linguistics.
Yajur Veda: The Yajur Veda is the Veda about worship. It boasts it detailed mention of rituals, worships, recitations. Just like the Sama Veda, yajur Veda is also believed to have a direct link with rig Veda. with a total of,1,875 verses with the paramount focus on ways of worship, It is generally regarded as having two “sections” (these are not distinct parts of Yajur Veda rather characteristics of the whole), the poorly arranged dark yajur Veda, and the arranged light yajur Veda.
Atharva-Veda is also known as Atharvan's knowledge. Unlike the other three, this Veda deals with spells, chants, hymns, prayers, rituals, marriages and funerals, medicine, anatomy, physiology, and daily life observations. With 20 books, each with 730 hymns, Atharva Veda is named after Rishi Atharvan, who played an integral role in the composition of Atharva Veda.
Ramayana and Mahabharata together; are the main epics of India. The two epics are composed in Sanskrit. Indian Epics is mainly based on the study of two epic narratives - the Ramayana and Mahabharata. They have transformed the Indian way of analyzing and philosophy. In Sanskrit, the two epics are believed to be "itihasa", meaning historical texts.
