Once upon a time, the first disciples of lord Shiva who also went by the title of Sapta rishis visited lord Shiva at his home mount Kailash. To enlighten them, Lord Shiva gave them a view of his cosmic dance and struck his Damaru 14 times. The 14 sounds created the basis of Sanskrit language.
The second story is of lord shiva and sati Devi.
Daksh-Prajapati, sati Devi’s father and lord Shiva’s father-in-law, wanted to conduct a grand yagna. Lord Shiva and sati Devi came uninvited to the yagna. Then, Daksh-Prajapati spoke bad things of lord Shiva. Sati Devi feels utterly humiliated and jumps in the fire of the yagna and, hence immobilizing herself. After that, lord Shiva destroyed the yagna in the form of the Virabhadra, which is a strong and brave form of lord Shiva and keeps roaming around carrying sati Devi’s dead body and ignoring everything else happening around him. At the request of the devas, lord Vishnu used his Sudarshan chakra and scattered parts of sati Devi’s remains at 50 locations across the Indian subcontinent. These 50 locations, called shakti Pitha, is ascribed with each letter of the Sanskrit alphabet

The third origin story of the 50 letters of the Sanskrit alphabet is derived from the way the energy levels are placed in the body. As per the Vedic culture and thought process, the human body is said to have 7 energy levels of the 7 Chakras. Each chakra is said to reside at a certain place in the human body and represented by a lotus with different number of petals, that signify into how many branches that energy distributes at the 7 chakras.
Vedic Sanskrit is the language which was used before classical Sanskrit. it is harder than normal Sanskrit. it belongs to the Indo-Aryan subgroup of the Indo-European languages. The Vedas, which is one of the oldest texts, is composed in Vedic Sanskrit.

Classical Sanskrit has 52 letters. Out of which 16 are vowels and 36 are consonants.

Prakrit-
Prakrit language was spoken between the time 500 BCE and 500 AD. Sanskrit is older than Prakrit by 200 years. The name Prakrit means “derived “or "obtained". Prakrit is considered less prestigious than Sanskrit, as it was spoken by commoners, and Sanskrit was spoken by brahmans.
One of the biggest forms of Prakrit is Ardhamāgadhı̄, which is associated with the ancient kingdom of Magadha, in modern Bihar.
