Hindsight bias is a term used in psychology to explain the tendency of people to overestimate their ability to have predicted an outcome that could not possibly have been predicted.

" I knew it all along"

overconfidence is characterized by an overestimation of one’s actual ability to perform a task successfully, by a belief that one’s performance is better than that of others, or by excessive certainty in the accuracy of one’s beliefs.

For example, a recent survey showed that more than two-thirds of Americans believed they were better than the average driver.

Perceiving Order in Random Events is possibly an effort in make sense of an often uncertain world. Even in random, unrelated data people often find order, because random sequences often do not look random.

Surveys

A survey is a data collection tool used to gather information about individuals. Surveys are commonly used in psychology research to collect self-report data from study participants. A survey may focus on factual information about individuals, or it might aim to obtain the opinions of the survey takers.
