Vagrant; rare – from northern and central North America.
This species became ex-BBRC in 2002 and was added to the WBRC list on the 1st January 2002.

5). 2025, 15th April: Alaw estuary - Drake, present to the 16th. Photographed. (Accepted by WBRC).
4). 2023, 2nd November: Cors Ddyga – Drake, of the ‘storm’ or ‘white-cheeked form’. Photographed. Seen again on the Cefni estuary at Malltraeth from the 8th-12th December. (S&RBiW 2023 p6).
3). 1998, 7th April: Braint Estuary – Drake; having previously been seen along the coast of the mainland. (British Birds 93 p522).
2). 1979, 21st January – 1st March: Llyn Bodgyched – Drake, presumed to be returning drake from ’77 present from the 21st-25th and then again on the 1st. (British Birds 74 p460).
1). 1977, 30th January – 11th February: Llyn Bodgylched – Drake present on the 30th, 31st and 11th (British Birds 71 p492).
