Organizational Skills Matrix

Developed in the fall of 2020 for EAC 581 Advanced Instructional Design.

Overview

I created the organizational skills matrix as a handout for the first module of an eLearning about organizational skills that my group created for a municipal water utility service. The matrix shows the definition, purpose, and examples of five organizational concepts: time management, prioritization, mental organization, physical organization, and virtual organization.

Multimodal Learning

Developed in the summer of 2019 for EAC 585: Technology in the Training Environment.

Description

This infographic visually represents the evolution of learning technologies aligned to the Visual, Aural, Read/Write, and Kinesthetic (VARK) learning modality preferences (Fleming & Baume, 2006).  The message of the infographic is “Technology fosters a growth mindset.," which signifies that technology stimulates learners to persist in their learning goals. The bottom section shows technologies that existed before microcomputers as tree roots that have since been enhanced by computer technology shown in the middle section. Technologies within the tree in the middle section evolved from the mid-1970s through the end of the 20th century as a result of the introduction of microcomputers as learning tools. Finally, the sky portion of the infographic represents learning technologies of the 21st century. Although these newer technologies were conceptualized as far back as the 1950s, they emerged in mainstream education and training more recently. New technologies do not easily align with a specific modality, so they are represented as multimodal. Microcomputers, laptops, tablets, and smartphones are similarly multimodal learning devices as signified by their location within the tree trunk.
