Remifentanil

Used for:

• Short procedures with minimal postoperative pain, as remifentanil is an ultra short-acting opioid

Part of the opioid class of drugs, has the same mechanism and effects as fentanyl.

Shorter context-sensitive half-time than fentanyl: The effects of remifentanil subside within 5-10 minutes after discontinuiation of an infusion
