Unit 5 focuses on applying our digital literacy and application skills through two collaborative assignments. By doing so, we are exploring the technology culture and usage of two different countries to analyze and differentiate their digital divides.
While researching technology in Egypt and Italy, I began exploring other global tech cultures as well. I was surprised to find that every country is now integrating AI into daily life. Many nations are even building dedicated physical locations for AI development and digitizing essential tasks to fully test AI's capabilities.
Source-Gloabal AI Adaption in 2025 report from Microsoft
These 30 countries have already built AI into their core systems. Though they make up about 15% of the world, their influence is massive because they are among the most highly populated and economically powerful nations. Given how new AI technology is, this rapid spread shows just how quickly it is becoming a global standard.
I intentionally selected the most advanced and densely populated cities in these countries, assuming there would be few technological disparities. However, while researching the digital divide, I discovered that significant gaps still exist even within high-tech urban centers. For example, neighborhoods like Shubra continue to struggle with outdated infrastructure and poor connectivity, highlighting that access to a tech hub does not always guarantee digital access.
