In this project, I had to find and share examples of information Security as reported by the media and evaluate my sources.
This article shares the evaluation of cybercrime where generative AI have converged into a multi-billion-dollar criminal enterprise; this makes online frauds more dangerous and harder to spot. For example, in Cambodia, there are criminal groups that are kidnapping people and forcing them to work in "scam factories" where they use AI to trick victims out of their money. With AI, scammers are no longer struggling with language barriers with the use of sending perfect messages in any language, even using fake voices and videos depicting family, friends, or bank officials. The small fraud it started out with turned into a huge business that makes billions of dollars, making it difficult to tell what is real and what is fake, troubling even the police. To protect ourselves from these issues, always download apps from the app store, not from unofficial links. Avoid ".apk" files as those use Remote Access Trojans, which makes it easier for scammers to have complete control of your phone. Finally, be careful if a person or anapp makes you approve permission or accessibility for something, always be cautious and check if it is reliable.

This article makes a discovery on the major escalation of cybercrime happening right now, with a single developer using an AI agent to produce 88,000 lines of advanced malware code in just a week. Meaning, it is mimicking three professional development teams working full-time for 30 days (about 4 and a half weeks), in the span of a few days. This advancement makes way for experiencing hackers to use AI as a massive force multiplier to build complex, high-end viruses at record-breaking speeds, bringing in a new era of rapid malware development.

I learned how serious the AI issue is becoming. With multiple trusted platforms and sites now incorporating AI into their system, it makes it easier and harder to catch hackers as they are now developing new ways with the assistance of AI assistants.
