Unit zero was the focus of introduction into digital literacy tools and skills; one main part of unit zero was the nine terms that I did not know about six. Below is a list of all nine terms with only the six I did not know being explained after.
A signature file is Specific, Identifiable piece of data, ranging from an automatic email to identify and verify digital authenticity, or in simpler terms; Extra information other than your name that is relevant and provided at the end of an email. A signature file is great to have because it is easily accessible for information for peers that shows a professional and trustworthy image to the sender. Knowing this, I now have it automatically saved and added to every one of my emails to show the same amount of respect and trust to all my teachers and peers and for a more professional branding.
An Information system is a set of interconnected components of media that collects, process, store, and distributes information to support decision-making, coordination, and control within organizations. This helps us manage our information, files, and other digital aspects more easily to achieve a more productive and efficient workflow. With this, I track and manage my grades, academic history, and other student digital necessaries that make it quicker and more efficient.
A Learning Management System is an Application/Web designed to provide learning/helpful tools to already existing programs, A common one being a notification button on an app or website that notify you when something pops up. Another lesser known one that I just found out was clicking on any form on content in Bright space and a checkmark appearing right after you are done browsing it, which is such an extremely useful tool especially for content with similar titles. Another thing that I now check every day is called class progress in Bright space which gives you a whole table of content of everything in your class. For starters, the number of assignments you have completed compared to how much there is, and the amount of content you visit for and how long along with other cool features that are helpful for a college student.
CC means Caron Copy that sent a copy to secondary recipients for awareness. This is helpful to inform multiple parties of the same information, and instead of sending a separate email to each, you can provide the information to all without having them reply. I started using this when I needed to email all my professors that I am unable to come in for class, and this just helps to not have to copy and paste numerous times.
BBC means Binary Carbon Copy, similar to carbon copy, allowing you to send messages to recipients without revealing their email addresses to others. I use this to send documents to my peers but for any sort of privacy and consent reason, I put their emails in the BCC section to avoid any other parties from seeing their email.
User Interface is the specific point of information and communication between a person and a computer, website, or application. For example, using Siri on your cellular devices to either request or ask them something. Learning that I used this daily helped me investigate more college useful User Interfaces like Quiz-let to easily make flash cards or take quizzes based on the topic you are learning. This saves me a lot of time from uploading every question into Kahoot to make half effort flash cards compared to an interface designed properly with the tools I need to learn more efficiently.
