What I learned

Context

Unit 4 focused on how easily our personal information can be stolen because hackers have become experts at pretending to be people or companies we trust, tricking us into letting our guard down. As technology advances, these scams are getting harder to spot, which is exactly why cybersecurity was created, to act as a digital shield that helps protect us from these evolving tricks.

AI Takeover/Evolution

One of the most terrifying things I learned through this unit is how troublesome AI really is. It does not just generate images and respond to our questions of need, but it starts to mimic voices of people in any language or generating realistic scenes of said person, with just a small sample too.

This GIF was found on GIPHY and confirmed to be AI by the creator, another example of how realistic AI is getting. Now imagine a video created of a loved one or someone important being hurt, and the scammer that is impersonating said person requests money for help. Many would not think about checking and panic, sending the money and calling to make sure they are okay. This is what was warned about in unit 4, the impersonation of prominent figures on the rise.
