Support Amassuru

Amassuru is a network of women working on security and defense issues in Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC). The network was created to promote the work of women in these areas, as well as to facilitate their visibility and promote discussion spaces in the region. For instance, Amassuru publishes a newsletter, has developed a members' directory and disseminates publications and events by its members. Although we have been working collaboratively since December 2019, as of April 2021 the network still does not have any resources and has depended solely on the volunteer work of its coordinators and others, who have put in their own time and personal resources. Thus, in order to formally establish our network as an organization and create a better website so that we can all connect more easily, we are kindly requesting for contributions from people interested in our project. Please support Amassuru! All donations are welcome--there is no minimum amount. Your collaboration helps us to get closer to our goal and will benefit hundreds of communities and women in our region.

Amassuru emerged as a network of women working on Security and Defense issues in Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC). This network was created in order to promote the work of women in the area, as well as to facilitate visibility and spaces for discussion in the region.

Amassuru publishes a newsletter, has developed a directory of participants, created a collaborative publication and disseminates publications and events of interest to its members. Although we have been working collaboratively since December 2019, to date (April 2021), the network still does not have any resources and depends exclusively on the voluntary work of its coordinators and participants, who contribute with their own resources and time.

Currently, the number of women who work in this area and who have decided to work collaboratively in this network is so large that we need to improve our website to make our work more visible. A more powerful search engine will allow us to better filter the training, experience and capacity of our more than 400 members, and at the same time, it will make it possible to create a complete profile of each one of them. In consequence, we are kindly requesting for contributions from people interested in and value our project. Please, support Amassuru!

In addition, we want to formally become a non-profit organization in order to generate more opportunities for women who are part of the network. As a result, we will be able to seek resources to finish developing the mentoring program and start working on the lines of research that we have proposed (Violence against women, women and organized crime and prevention of violence in the region with a gender perspective).

All donations are welcome, there is no minimum amount. Your collaboration helps us to get closer to our goal and will benefit hundreds of communities and women in our region, not only those who work in Security and Defense or are part of the network.
