Call for the 2nd Amassuru Collaborative Bulletin

Dear colleagues,

We hope that you are well as possible during this pandemic. We know that these are very difficult times and we may feel overwhelmed in our differing responsibilities and roles during this time. We hope that in these circumstances you and your families are well.

We have decided to start the preparation of our Second Amassuru Collaborative Bulletin. In our First Bulletin, we disseminated research papers and opinion pieces shared by colleagues within the network. Likewise, our editorial note was focused on the role of women in developing context of this pandemic that we were just beginning to experience.

On this occasion, we cannot be oblivious to the generalized pandemic situation that we are experiencing in all of our countries. For this reason, we propose three thematic axis, specify some subthemes within each axis, so that you can share with us the results that you have completed during the last three months of research or opinions related to the proposed thematic axis.

  1. Patterns of crime and violence during the pandemic
    • Emergence / aggravation of certain types of violence (e.g. domestic violence, violence linked to crime)
    • Organized crime and its adaptation to the pandemic situation
    • Conflict and post-conflict during the pandemic
    • Measurement of crimes in a pandemic situation
  2. State responses to the pandemic
    • Role of the police in quarantine enforcement
    • Managing the pandemic inside prison facilities
    • Operation of the justice system during the pandemic
    • International cooperation to contain the pandemic
    • Discussions about gender, race, class, and migration in the context of the pandemic
  3. Reactions of non-state actors
    • Protests against government measures (civil disobedience, marches, public demonstrations)
    • Responses from the private sector and civil society (NGOs, etc.)
    • Community organization / community associations / local leaders

You can share the links to your documents through this form. We welcome anyone is interested in writing an article about any of these subjects to show their interest. Likewise, we are open to suggestions on some topics that we have not specified and that you consider relevant to include.

Your contributions will be received until next Friday, July 3, 2020.

Additionally, we invite you to let us know about the webinars in which you are participating and consider relevant to share with the Amassuru network, so that we can disseminate them through our social networks and website. You can inform us through our email, Twitter or LinkedIn.

We hope as always to have your active participation and that together we continue to build and strengthen our Amassuru network.

Kind regards and be safe,

Coordinating team
