Hi, I’m Caro and I’m one of the founders of Alpinehearts! I’m so happy that Alpinehearts ‘24 resonated with so many people from all over the Alps, and that we managed to create a safer space for women and queer climbers to explore the mountains. I’m so thrilled that we are organising this again and making our meetup a tradition! I’ve been going to the mountains since I was little, and grew up moving around the world, but I didn’t know that people actually did rock climbing to conquer mountains til 2017 when I moved to Munich and started exploring the Alps. What a revelation!! Discovering crack and trad climbing was the thing that hooked me, leading me into all other types of climbing. Since then, I’ve become a climbing instructor for the DAV and am working towards becoming a climbing guide. I believe in the power of the mountains and climbing to bring joy, grow self-confidence and support mental health. The experiences and the friendships I’ve made through climbing give me so much joy, and I’m so happy and proud to be giving this back to our community of women and queer climbers! Can’t wait for August 2025!
Deputy Director
Hi, I’m Sabine! I’m originally from the French-speaking part of Switzerland but have been living in Zurich for 13 years. I love this city for its diversity and cultural scene. As a former football player, I only started using my arm muscles a few years ago! 💪
I discovered climbing in 2019 and immediately fell in love with it. When I climb, the outside world disappears—there’s only one goal: reaching the top!
I’m also the founder of Boulder*innen, an association that promotes inclusivity in climbing. We organize the annual FLINTA* Boulder Festival and host monthly FLINTA* bouldering meet-ups in Zurich to create a welcoming space for the community.
Treasurer
I am outgoing tropical forest researcher and incoming queer climbing organizer. I’m trying to age like a champ, but the knee injuries are a real bummer. I’ve lived, traveled, and climbed all over the world, and I’ve been based in Sweden for 8 years now. I moved to Bohuslän in 2023 and finally embraced crack climbing. I am mostly a trad climber and looove a good multi-pitch adventure. Sport climbing is a nice holiday, and I’ll go bouldering if my friends insist. I used to free-solo a lot—I love having to just focus and come alive in a pinch. I am obsessed with my garden (and manure pile) and grow monstrous vegetables. It brings me such joy. I am a rabid feminist, growing anti-racist, and budding queer. I make friends by doing things together, so I’m happy to be here:-)
Set-up
Hi, I’m Angela! I grew up with the Swiss mountains, but curiously only started climbing while studying in London. Since then, I’ve met many interesting people who share the same love for nature, wilderness and a good physical and mental challenge to overcome through teamwork :) After several years of living in different parts of the world for my profession, I recently moved back to Switzerland. I love being in proximity to the mountains and am excited to be able to spend more time advancing my mountaineering and climbing skills. And what better way to do so than with a community of kind, like minded people at the AlpineHearts Festival?
Artistic Director
HI, I am Anna, I live in Berlin and am originally from Texas. I’ve been climbing for 9 years and started at my university while competing in competitions across the state and country. I love to sport climb but find myself bouldering much more because its an easier way of spending time with friends and making new ones. I love the trust involved with outdoor climbing and communication of fears and boundaries. I think it makes us more communicative, in touch with ourselves, and sensitive to others. I am joining the Alpine Hearts team this year as the Art Director. I look forward to seeing you all in August!

Hi, I'm Charlie and I started climbing in Scotland more than 10 years ago when I joined my university's mountaineering club. There I also discovered my love for hiking when it's too wet to climb.
Now my adventures have moved to Berlin where I work as a biologist. I'm mostly a sport climber and boulderer but also really enjoy crack climbing. I'm part of a queer climbing group in Berlin, which showed me how important safer spaces in climbing are.
This is my second year being part of the Alpinehearts team and I'm hoping this year will be even better than last!

Coucou! I'm Electra, a climber and human rights activist. I've been climbing since I was a kid, and the outdoors have always been a place of freedom and connection for me. Over the past few years, I’ve been involved as a trustee of the Women’s Bouldering Festival, and more recently, I co-founded Transfest, a bouldering festival by and for TIN* climbers, which held its first edition in Fontainebleau, France. Through this work, I’m committed to building spaces where everyone feels welcome, safe, and able to climb as they are. For me, inclusion is not a matter of goodwill or bravery — it is a fundamental right that should be guaranteed to everyone.

Hi! I'm Eva, and I'm from near Munich. I'm excited to be part of the Alpinehearts Festival team for the second time, as I really enjoyed it last year! I'm not the best climber yet, but I want to improve my skills here. My hobbies include geocaching, learning German sign language, cooking, and volunteering with the Foodsharing organization. I also take care of my foster horse, a young Haflinger mare who can be a bit headstrong and stubborn but is always very sweet – just like me! I'm looking forward to another year filled with adventures, new friendships, and shared experiences.

Hi! I’m Genessis, a climber, thru hiker and adventurer based in Frankenjura (Nuremberg) and originally from Venezuela.
I have been climbing since 2013. Boulders, big walls, single pitch climbing, I love them all. I have tried from tiny boulders in the German Black forest, to big wall climbing in the high granite walls in Chamonix, and love every single way of climbing (ok, I am lying a bit: deep water solo, hard alpine solo climbing, ice-falls climbing and mix climbs are not really my favourite thing in the world, but I have also tried them). Some of my favourite things about climbing are connecting with people and talking about their experiences and what moves them, as well as empowering through outdoor adventures. For 5 years, I have taken as a personal goal to motivate people to explore and go beyond their comfort zones (in the safest way they can), to be outdoors and enjoy nature. So helping organise this year's Alpine Hearts seemed like a very logical thing to do. I am looking forward to meeting you all and climbing in August!

My name is Hélène (she/her), I started climbing 4 years ago when I fell in love with the rocky west coast of Sweden and its beautiful granite cracks. I organised queer climbing sessions with friends, and even our own climbing festival Queer up! in the heart of Bohuslän. I am now living in the French Alps learning alpine climbing, and training to become a climbing instructor so that I can pass on knowledge and inspiration to other women and queer people. My favorite activity is a beautiful multipitch in the mountains in good company, and even better if there is a crack that I can jam!

Hi everyone!
I'm thrilled to share my passion for climbing and the joy of experiencing beautiful and safe spaces with all of you! I enjoy bouldering both outdoors and indoors, and I also love multi-pitch climbing in the mountains, mainly in the Alps since I live in Switzerland. I enjoy meeting new people, exploring new places, and making meaningful connections. This is why I'm part of the Alpinehearts committee! 😊
Looking forward to meeting you all at the festival.

Marie has organised trips for climbers from underrepresented backgrounds, including a visit to the Women’s Bouldering Festival in Fontainebleau and a Peak District day out with Arc’teryx and OUTO.
She works closely with climbing walls to tackle issues such as access, systemic racism, and stereotyping—and regularly speaks on these topics at events like Kendal Mountain Festival, the British Mountaineering Council (BMC), and the ABC conference. Her work has also been featured in Red Bull, Beta Magazine, and various podcasts.
She is the Diversity officer for Women Bouldering Festival based in Fontainebleau and now is part of the Alpine Heart (Switzerland) diversity team.

Hi, I’m Vale, I live in Munich, and I'm originally from Belarus. I’ve been climbing for 12 years, and I love this sport in all its forms. I perform the best in bouldering, but also love lead and alpine climbing. Since I moved to Munich I spend all my weekends in the mountains. I love seeing people happy from climbing and will help with social media for the festival. See you in August ;)

Hihi! I’m Vee - a climber and ornithologist - based in Vienna, and I grew up in Hong Kong and India. The two passions I identify with have come about in a rather endearing way - during my undergrad, the combination of studying biology and getting involved in my university’s mountaineering club got me inspired in looking for conservation work that would keep me climbing - that’s how I started working with birds! Climbing (mostly trees) is a pretty central part of my fieldwork and I am so stoked to feed both of these passions into one another - I also love birding at the crag and in the mountains :) I’m super excited to be a part of the fundraising team this year and cannot wait to get climbing with our beautiful community of queer and flinta climbers!
Culinary
Hi, my name is Vera, I'm originally from Hamburg, Germany, but I worked and climbed all over the world and recently moved to Munich to be closer to the mountains. Climbing has enriched my life in so many different ways and as a climbing instructor for the German alpine club (DAV) I love sharing that passion with others. My focus is on mental training and overcoming fears in climbing. I especially enjoy crack climbing (love-hate relationship) and the climbing in Yosemite valley. When I'm not climbing I usually play on a yoga mat. Although the climbing community is truly amazing, we are not free from discrimination, sexism, judgement, etc. just like any part of society. That's why I believe that it is incredibly important to create safe spaces to empower and represent woman and queer folks in climbing. Its always fascinating what energy, power and change we can create as a community and I am psyched to be part of the alpine hearts team and see the magic of the festival unfold.
