In recent National Student Surveys, the Greenwich faculty and its courses both received remarkable scores, demonstrating the university's strong performance. Students frequently give higher grades to the university's English language curriculum, financial mathematics programme, business administration programme, computer security and forensics programme, and other programmes.

The University of Greenwich also has a Silver grade in the Teaching Excellence Framework and has won the Queen's Anniversary Awards for Higher and Further Education five times.

History of Greenwich University

Frank Didden established the University of Greenwich in the United Kingdom in 1890. It was then the second-oldest polytechnic in the entire United Kingdom and went by the name Woolwich Polytechnic. Quintin Hogg's ideas served as inspiration for Woolwich Polytechnic, which initially prioritised education together with social and religious obligations.

By 1894, increased emphasis was placed on offering higher technical education. Due to this, part-time day courses were developed in cooperation with the Ministry of War (Woolwich Arsenal).

When a portion of Hammersmith College of Art and Construction and Woolwich Polytechnic merged, Thames Polytechnic was born. Avery Hill College of Education (1985), Garnett College (1987), Dartford College (1976), and portions of Goldsmiths College and the City of London College (1988) were incorporated.

In 1992, the government granted Thames Polytechnic its first university status; as a result, it was eventually renamed University of Greenwich.

The University of Greenwich and the Thames College of Health Care Studies formally combined as a full faculty in 1993.

The university and the Natural Resources Institute (NRI), formerly a research division of the UK government, merged formally in 1996.

With campuses in London and Kent, the University of Greenwich is today regarded as a prestigious modern public institution.

Living Accommodations at Greenwich University

Avery Hill, Greenwich, and Medway are the three sites where the University of Greenwich offers over 2,400 spaces in residence halls. Housing is a given for all first-year Greenwich students. While the housing options in Avery Hill and Medway are close to the corresponding campuses, Greenwich is a 5- to 10-minute walk away.

If necessary, Greenwich students can also choose to live in privately rented housing. The University of Greenwich makes sure that every new student is given a place to live, whether it be in a residence hall or another type of housing that has been approved by the university. While assigning spots in resident halls, the institution takes pride in giving precedence to students with disabilities.

In addition to housing, the University of Greenwich offers free access to its on-campus fitness centre and to ActiveGRE events. Also, students are provided with a free intercampus shuttle service that runs between Avery Hill and Greenwich all day long (Monday through Friday).
