This course is one of my favorite courses because I am a person who loves to speak and listen a lot. The sessions were fun and beneficial at the same time. We had a couple of difficulties at first, but practice makes perfect and together we were able to overcome them.

My first presentation was not good because I was nervous and uncomfortable in front of my classmates. However, after several presentations that problem was solved and I gained more confidence to present. What I liked the most in the presentations is that the topics were interesting. Throughout the semester, I discovered new monuments in the world, got an idea about ethics of different majors, and listened to other people’s opinions of what they would love to change in this world.

However, after several presentations that problem was solved and I gained more confidence to present. What I liked the most in the presentations is that the topics were interesting. Throughout the semester, I discovered new monuments in the world, got an idea about ethics of different majors, and listened to other people’s opinions of what they would love to change in this world.
Besides, I liked the idea of separating the class into two teams and arguing about a specific topic. The instructor made it more difficult by asking us to argue against our personal opinions. That was more beneficial because it enhanced our abilities to think objectively and critically. Honestly I feel that most of my opinions about a specific issue are implemented from others or affected by my environment. This way of thinking helps me formulate my own system of beliefs.

The instructor dedicated a couple of sessions where we have to speak for a couple of minutes about a specific topic without stopping. That was a hard task to do, but necessary to get us out of the comfort zone and speak. Also, I got better at speaking fluently by talking with the teacher and my classmates.

Although I spend a long period of time watching and listening to videos online, I discovered that I am not getting all the value. I have a problem with focusing on the lecture without being distracted. With practice I am getting better, but I haven’t eliminated that difficulty yet. In the middle of the lecture I started thinking of the information that were said and miss what was coming after them.

I like to know how old civilizations lived and thought and that’s why I love to visit such monuments. Also, I have got a better understanding of gender and its effect on communication. I knew that different genders communicate differently, but I couldn’t specify how. In this lecture I knew specifically why and how we communicate differently. Also, I have changed my perspective on some stereotypes about women since I was from the people who think women talk too much.

Listening and taking notes at the same time is quite difficult for me. In the first quiz I wasn’t able to organize my time and take notes properly. Session after session we learned how to abbreviate to be faster, formulate lists to be organized more, and using indentation and spacing effectively, …etc. That helped too much.
